2015 Adults’ Short Story Competition
We are thrilled and very honoured that Julia Copus, the renowned award winning poet and radio dramatist, has agreed to judge our 2015 competition. Julia’s latest book “The World’s Two Smallest Humans” was shortlisted for the prestigious T S Eliot prize in 2012. http://www.faber.co.uk/author/julia-copus/. There has been a resurgence of interest in the short story lately and we are offering you the opportunity to enter this competition which closes on 15th June 2015. Julia will also write a short critique for the creators of the winning stories and those stories and her comments will be published on this website.
The theme is “Rebellion”.
Go on — let your writing skills loose………… You know there is a story inside you.
The prizes are 1st £100, 2nd £50 and a third prize of £25.

HOW TO ENTER
We would like to receive stories with the theme ‘Rebellion’ in any genre and up to 2,500 words. All stories must be your own work which must not have been published.
The deadline is 15th June 2015.
Please mark each page with the story’s title but there must be no indication of your name, which should be given in a covering letter or in the body of an email, along with your address, telephone number, email, number of words and the story title.
If you want to post your story, send it with a covering letter to CM Short Story Competition, c/o April Cottage, Silver Street, Curry Mallet, Taunton, Somerset TA3 6SR.
There are four ways to pay, here on the website at the bottom of this page with your debit or credit card or Paypal account, electronically into our bank account, sort code 77 50 01 account number 57083168, or by cheque or postal order to the above address made payable to Curry Mallet Community Fund. If paying electronically, please put your name and the first line of your address in the reference box, thank you.
A specially selected panel will shortlist the stories to ten which will be given to Julia Copus for the final selection. The winners will be notified at the beginning of September 2015 and the winning stories will be published on this website.
For those new to short story telling – don’t leave entering the competition too close to the deadline and don’t send in your first attempt. Put the story away for a little while after completion and when you review it, improvements will normally be seen immediately.
