Curry Mallet Village Shop and Post Office
In our small village there is a small but perfectly formed example of the village shop, which is a proper tardis, full of goodies and where you will be sure of a friendly welcome. Whilst there you can stop awhile, enjoy a cup of frothy coffee or a pot of tea and tuck into cake whilst watching the world go by. If you are thinking of visiting as a group it’s always worth calling ahead (01823 480236) as space is limited.
As a village shop and post office Phil and Jane Scott aim to supply all the needs of the community on a daily basis. The post office offers its usual services, plus banking, free cash withdrawals and phone card top-ups, as well as the shop providing all the basics – milk, bread, eggs, and vegetables.
The shop also supplies household goods, stationery, a good supply of cards, newspapers and much more. There is a fresh bread delivery every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and pasties, sausage rolls and other pastries are baked daily. You can order your bread and newspapers, and you can even buy a health lottery ticket. And if you have a regular prescription from Langport health centre, then you can use the collection service.
To establish your needs, wants and desires it is important to know what you want… and equally what you don’t want! If there is something that you think the shop should provide, or you would like something put by please contact Phil and Jane.
The opening hours are as follows: The shop is open 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 8.00am to 1.00pm on Wednesdays. On Saturdays we open 8.30am to 1.00pm. Please bear in mind that the Post Office closes quarter of an hour before the shop does. The last collection for post from the Post Office on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday is 4.00pm. On Wednesday and Saturday it is in the morning. (information last updated 09/2020)
There are picnic benches under the tree on the Green for customers’ use.
