Curry Mallet has been successful in winning £5,600 from the National Lottery Heritage Fund Small Grants Programme to support its wide and varied Magna Carta 800 projects. The Lottery Grant forms 56% of the total project costs of £9,750. A further £3,400 is in place through matched funding, voluntary contribution and fund raising. The shortfall of £750 will be collected by approaching other grant making bodies and holding further fund raising events between now and June 2015.

With a population of just 306, Curry Mallet is one of the smallest villages involved in the 800th anniversary of the sealing of Magna Carta. It is also the most westerly. Curry Mallet was the main manor of William Malet, one of the 25 rebel barons present at Runnymede on 15th June 1215.
